The CARIS Drop In takes place every Wednesday during term time 10am -12 noon at St Ann’s Church Hall, Avenue Road, London, N15 5JH .
The Drop In provides a safe and welcoming environment for families. Children have the chance to explore and develop through play, while parents have the opportunity to meet others, bond with their children through play and activities, and gain valuable knowledge from the information sessions.
The Drop In is an excellent venue to meet other parents, increasing peer support networks while building social and community links. Information sessions are available on topics including Home Safety, Positive Parenting, Mental Health Awareness, Welfare Benefits etc. These sessions encourage participants to interact with one another, reducing social isolation alongside giving valuable information. Professionals such as Health Visitors, Mental Health Outreach Workers, Childcare Professionals and Local Community Group Workers are invited to Drop Ins, enabling parents to gain access to further beneficial services.
While parents have access to important information preschool children have a variety of exciting and educational toys to engage with and assist in preparation for school. Different activities are available each week. Children can take part in craft making, healthy cooking and messy play etc. There are weekly sing-a-long sessions with musical instruments.
At the Drop In families are introduced to further CARIS services that may benefit them. Services that run from the Drop In are: Toy Library, Home Safety Equipment Loan Scheme and the Clothes Exchange. Parents can also find out about ESOL classes, trips and the Summer Playscheme. The Advice and Advocacy service is by appointment only and professional referral is preferable.
The Drop In is open to all families, particularly those living in temporary accommodation in Haringey. Please come along!
